		<description><![CDATA[In this post I told the story of the case which led to the discovery of Legionella. Now, through a lecture of Bernd Schmeck, I learned about a case closer to home. In 2004 the five-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Potsdamer Platz in  Berlin suffered from contamination with Legionella only a few months after it opened. This was despite the fact that they had a special system to prevent this kind of infection. The problem was discovered by hotel employees and immediately reported to the authorities. Nobody was infected. Nevertheless the hotel had to close completely for some time.]]></description>
